Keeping the house clean is an art, mastered only by a few. I say a few, because not necessarily can every homemaker be a good at keeping the house clean and organized. Some of you, reading this, may think of me an obsessive personality, but I do take the subject of housekeeping very seriously. The living room is the first room of your house, which makes an impression on the guests. It’s the room which welcomes and entertains your guests. As they say, first impression is the last impression, so you might as well make an indelible impression on your guests. In most of the homes, magazines and newspapers are piled up in the living rooms. Go through the pile and discard the old issues. The carpet (if you have one) has to be vacuumed, thoroughly, to get rid of the dirt, dust, grime and your pet’s hair (if you have a pet). The upholstery has to cleaned regularly, so fix a weekly or a fortnightly schedule for the same. Flowers, artificial or real, need to be cleaned or cleared included the vase. Since a lot of oil is used, the walls tend to get sticky and the dust gets settled easy. Wash the empty containers and dry them out, completely, before you use them again. Wipe the fingerprints off the glass cabinets and the window panes. Rinse the dirty utensils, pots and pans and the dishwasher too. Put in a little extra effort while cleaning the bed to keep these vermin at bay. Getting dressed in a rush hour can make your nightstand and dressing table messy. So rearrange the scattered cosmetics and clothes, put them back in order and dust away the remnants of talcum powder. This will prevent your bathroom from growing mildew or moss due to persistent moisture. Use a terrycloth to clean the faucets and the mirror in the bathroom. Dust particles get stuck in between the tile joints. For cleaning tile floors, use a toothbrush and detergent. This task is a little laborious, so do it weekly.
